Just a quickie today. I dug out Three Feet High And Rising for a spin for the first time in ages today. Some of it hasn’t aged too well (the game show skits get a bit tiresome), but there are a good half dozen tracks that sound as good now as they ever did. “Eye Know” is still my favourite. With a whistling Otis Redding accompanying the boys, it’s a real joy – one of the most uplifting summery rap tracks ever. The track is heavily based on samples of Steely Dan’s “Peg” from the Aja album – particularly the infectious horn riff and the “I Know I’ll love You Better” refrain. That’s a damned good tune too.
