Song of the day: JÓHANN JÓHANNSSON – IBM 1401 Processing Unit (2006)

Not much new to write about. So here’s Magnus Helgason’s video for the lead track off 2006’s IBM 1401, A User’s Manual which was the first album I reviewed on here back in February 2007. Who knew that a clunky old mainframe computer could be the fount of such sadness.

  1. Just stumbled on your site from a thread comparing RYM to Discogs. You’re got some pretty interesting stuff. Can’t wait to see more. I really like the style of this Helgason video. Not familar with the director but I’m certainly intrigued to learn more. I’ve always liked that turn of the 20th century vintage look. Thanks.

  2. That bloody thread – bane of my life!

Yeah, I like the video, although it doesn’t really correspond to the concept of the tune particularly well, but I suppose footage of ancient mainframe computers would be a bit obvious.

Anyway, thanks for dropping by – hope that you continue to find interesting stuff here.
